LANCASTER—Michael Moore Bryan, 87, of Lancaster passed away on Thursday, January 15, 2026.

He was born on June 24, 1938, to Charles and Gladys C. Bryan. He grew up and lived in Poquoson, until he moved to Lancaster County upon retirement.

Michael is survived by his wife, Jean Cavanaugh Bryan; his three children, daughter, Kathy McCarty Breese (Tom) of King George; and sons, Billy McCarty (Cheryl) of Lancaster; and Tim Bryan (Kat) of Hampton; and four grandchildren, Amanda McCarty, Katrina Bryan, Mary Bryan and Timmy Bryan; and a great-granddaughter, Olivia.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Sheehan Bryan; and his second wife, Patsy McCarty Bryan.

Michael attended Poquoson Public Schools, Fork Union Military Academy and IBEW 1340 Electrical Apprenticeship. He had an interesting career, including working on a nuclear powerhouse in New Jersey and the Kennedy Space Center Vertical Assembly Complex, as well as working for many years for NASA in Hampton.

Upon retirement, Michael and his second wife, Patsy, moved into their home in Lancaster County. Michael became involved in the Upper Lancaster Ruritans, Belle Isle State Park and Corrottoman Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and worked as a volunteer at the church’s Lighthouse Thrift Store. In recent years, Michael served his church, White Marsh Church, in a variety of ways.

A celebration of life was held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, January 21, at White Marsh Church in Lancaster. Visitation was one hour prior to the service. Burial was at Parklawn Cemetery in Hampton.
