Michael Morchower

IRVINGTON—Michael Morchower, 79, died June 9, 2019.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bill Morchower and Ruth Leyner Morchower; and also his beautiful son, Randolph Lee Morchower.

He is survived by his wife, Kathy; his son, Michael Todd Morchower (Sarah); and his granddaughter, Malone O’Brian Morchower.

Michael was born in Bayonne, N.J., on April 10, 1940. He moved to Richmond to attend University of Richmond on a basketball scholarship, bachelor’s 1962. He then graduated T.C. Williams School of Law, LL.B., 1965. He made both Richmond and Irvington his home for many years.

Michael served as an FBI agent from 1965 to 1967, an assistant U.S. attorney from 1967 to 1969, and a U.S. Magistrate for the Eastern District from 1969 to 1975.

He was in his own private law practice from the early 1970s until he retired in 2012. His superb litigation skills propelled him to success and earned him great respect for his abilities. His heart was big, his joie de vivre great, and his generous spirit large.

“Magic Mike,” he was magical in the way he lived life and practiced law.

He will be sorely missed by his family, his friends, his colleagues, and many others whom both loved and respected him.

There will be a reception for friends and family at 3 p.m. Friday, June 21, at the Commonwealth Club. There also will be a memorial service from 3-5 p.m. Sunday, June 23, at Good Luck Cellars in Kilmarnock.

In lieu of flowers, you may send a contribution to Northern Neck Partners for Pets, PO Box 361 Irvington, VA22480 or www.northernneckpartnersforpets.org.
