Lancaster finished its season as a state semifinalist on Tuesday, November 18, when Middlesex edged the Lady Devils, 3-2, in a Class 1 volleyball tournament match in Saluda.
The Lady Chargers advanced to the state championship match versus Giles at 2:15 p.m. Saturday, November 22, at Salem Civic Center.
Lancaster ended its season at 22-7.
The Devils lost the first two sets in the state semifinal and rallied to tie the match at 2-2 before losing to the host Chargers in the 15-point, fifth set tie-breaker. Before Tuesday’s nail biter, Middlesex had not lost a single set through the Region A and Class 1 state playoffs.
