Region 1A runner-up Middlesex High School led the all-region volleyball team with four first-team selections and two second-team honorees. MHS senior Karlie Morris was named player of the year.
Rappahannock defeated the Chargers, 3-2, in the regional final last week to claim its fourth straight Region 1A championship and its fifth in the last six years. The Raiders placed three on the all-region first team.
Morris, along with MHS teammates seniors Addy Heasley, Hailey Bruce and Libby Oliver, were first-team selections, while juniors Carlie Jessie and Courtney Jessie represented the Chargers on the second team. Middlesex sophomore Rori Stewart received honorable mention.
Rappahannock seniors Sadie Packett, Laney Williams and Maggie Wonderling made the first-team cut. Wonderling was named the libero on the first team.
Lancaster, which lost in the regional quarterfinal, had one player named to the first team and one to the second. Hitter Alexis VerMeer was the only freshman—and the only underclassman—named to the all-region 10-member first team. LHS libero Addie George was the only freshman on the second team.
