LANCASTER—Lancaster County Commonwealth’s Attorney Jan Smith has dropped a misdemeanor charge in connection with a boating accident and the subsequent death of Graham McCormick, 31, of Richmond.
Smith withdrew the misdemeanor charge of failing to promptly report a boat crash against John Randolph “Rand” Hooper during a hearing in General District Court March 28. According to Smith, the class 4 misdemeanor is similar to a felony charge he plans to bring against Hooper, 32, of Richmond.
Smith said he will present a new charge against Hooper to a grand jury April 27 and he “did not want the misdemeanor to complicate” that charge…
