The Reedville Fishermen’s Museum, 504 Main Street, Reedville, will host it annual Model Making Workshop for ages 10-16 August 6 through 10.
Kids will learn to build a ship’s model and at the end of the week have a to-scale model of a boat typically found on the Lower Chesapeake Bay, reported director Lee Langston-Harrison.
Model making, an ancient pastime, is also a terrific way to hone fine motor skills, develop an eye for detail and a fun way to cultivate an appreciation for boats of the Chesapeake. Kids will spend the day with volunteers who have mastered the art of model making—and, if there is time, get to learn about the wonderful world of models and miniatures.
Participants will need to bring their own bag lunch. The enrollment fee is $100 per child. Any proceeds from the workshop will go back to the museum’s model shop.
To register, call 453-8529, or email director at [email protected] by Thursday, August 2.
