Monday pleads guilty in attacks against law enforcement officers in attempted escape

LANCASTER—Jacob Michael Monday appeared in Lancaster County Circuit Court on Friday, November 17, to plead no contest to attempted first-degree murder and guilty to a felony for malicious assault on a law enforcement officer, two felonies for assault on a law enforcement officer, and felonies for attempted prisoner escape, property damage to escape, prisoner in possession of a tool to aid escape, and prisoner in possession of a deadly weapon.

Under the terms of the agreement, additional charges of strangling with injury, prisoner assault on an employee, obstruction and aggravated attempted murder were nolle prossed.

Monday was charged related to a December 24, 2021, attack on Lancaster County deputy Eddie Daw and two Kilmarnock police officers, Richard Thomas and Chelsi Blake, at the Lancaster jail. The incident occurred as….
