Museum offers new self-guided audio tour

The Steamboat Era Museum, 156 King Carter Drive, Irvington, recently announced a new self-guided audio tour.

Upon entering the museum, a visitor can scan, with a cell phone or tablet, a QR code or visit a website to download an application, which leads to the audio tour, said director Barbara Brecher. Ear buds for phones and other devices are available for free at the museum.

The tour covers 18 exhibits, including the Watermen’s Boots on King Carter Drive.

The tour gives visitors an introduction to each exhibit, sometimes asking questions of the listener. Docents also are available for tours at the museum.

Museum fall hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays. For group tours, call 438-6888.
