Music by the River to open June 8 at Belle Isle State Park

The Big City Band

The Friends of Belle Isle State Park recently announced the 2024 Music by the River schedule. The family-friendly outdoor concerts are staged in the waterfront picnic area at Belle Isle State Park, 1632 Belle Isle Road, Lancaster.

The series will open June 8 with The Big City Band, a rockin’ country band formed in 2017, said keyboard player and vocalist Tim Nicely. Their sound features gritty lead vocals fused with smooth family harmonies—most of the members are related either as brothers, sons, cousins, uncles and fathers.

Growing up, the band was inspired by the traditional country music of Merle Haggard and southern rock of Lynyrd Skynyrd, said Nicely. Their hometown of Grottoes, is a small town nestled in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains thus the name—The Big City Band (BCB).

This group has built quite a following of loyal fans known as the ‘“BCB Strangers,” he continued. BCB has become a premiere party band in the Shenandoah Valley and across the Commonwealth…
