National Collection Week continues through Monday for Operation Christmas Child

Members of Historic White Marsh Church collected, packed and delivered more than 1,050 shoeboxes to White Stone Church of the Nazarene.

The collection season for Operation Christmas Child, a project of Samaritan’s Purse, recently began as nearly 5,000 drop-off locations opened across the country.

Individuals, families and groups across the Northern Neck have the opportunity to pack a shoebox gift filled with fun toys, school supplies, and personal care items for children in need and deliver them to drop-off sites during National Collection Week through November 24, reported Rappatomac Area coordinator Cathy Smith.

Operation Christmas Child has been collecting and delivering shoebox gifts to children worldwide for more than three decades. In 2025, Operation Christmas Child hopes to collect 12,025 shoeboxes from the Rappatomac Area, which includes the Lancaster, Northumberland, Westmoreland, Richmond, Essex, Middlesex and King and Queen counties to help with the global goal to….
