IRVINGTON—In preparation for the upcoming boating season, “No Wake” buoys recently were put in place for a newly approved zone on Carter Creek between Rappahannock River Yacht Club (RRYC) and the Tides Inn.

The intent of the zone is to eliminate significant wakes that create unsafe conditions for the boats and workers in the marinas and yacht club along this stretch of the creek, reported RRYC commodore Tom Chapman. The effort also will reduce shoreline erosion and provide safer small boat sailing and paddle boarding in this section.

This new No Wake zone, applied for by RRYC, Rappahannock Yachts and Crockett’s Landing Marina, was approved by the Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries after endorsement by the Lancaster board of supervisors and the Irvington Town Council.
