Indian Creek Yacht & Country Club (ICYCC) will host the best junior players in the county at the Northern Neck Junior All-Star tournament on June 23.
According to ICYCC board member Steve Mattheisen, the American Junior Golf Association (AJGA) tournaments “are where colleges recruit” the best players. “There are about 140 tournaments around the country every year that bring in the best golfers around the country. Their ages are 12-15 with the average handicap of 2, so these are exceptional golfers.” He added that many in the professional ranks came up through the organization.
