Northumberland picked up its first varsity field hockey win of the season on a hot, humid day in Phoebus last Thursday.
“We asked our players to do a lot under bad conditions,” said NHS coach Mark Fridenstine, who noted the heat index at the 4 p.m. start was nearly 100 degrees. “They responded very well and put everything they had in the game for the entire 60 minutes.”
Chloey O’Bier scored on an assist from Sara Wilson about 17 minutes to go in the first half and account for all of the scoring in Northumberland’s 1-0 win over the Phantoms.
