On the 11th day of the 11th month in honor of Veteran’s Day, members of the Northern Neck Sail and Power Squadron met to enjoy a meal in kinship with service men and women.
Following a brief presentation on the history of U.S. Field Rations, it was announced that Meals Ready to Eat (MREs) would be served. It was the very same meal that thousands of U.S. service men and women serving this nation, stationed in isolated locations alone or in small groups in cold dank entrenchments and sweltering tropical heat, ate for dinner that very night, said Ray Reuter.
As it is in the armed services, attendees did not get to choose which MRE they wanted but….
