Norma Jean D. Fitchett

WHITE STONE—Norma Jean Dryden Fitchett, 81, of White Stone went to be with the Lord on December 11, 2019.

Norma was born April 30, 1938, in Weems. She was the daughter of the late Harry F. “Buddy” and Ohna H. Dryden of Weems. She lived as a child in Weems and later in Irvington. She was the sole graduate of White Stone School’s Class of 1956, excelling in both academics and athletics.

Norma married William Madison Fitchett Sr. in 1958 and was with her soul mate for over 62 years. They had three children, William Madison “Billy” Fitchett Jr. (JoAnne), Larry Wayne Fitchett (Cindy) and Paula Jean Owens (Kent); and her grandchildren, Matt and Madison Owens. She also is survived by her sister, Judy D. Gossip (Jim) and brother, James Ray “Jimmy” Dryden.

Norma was preceded in death by her brother, Sherwood F. “Jack” Dryden.

Norma was an active member of White Stone Baptist Church and was very close to her church family. She enjoyed singing in the choir there for many years. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, cooking many delicious meals and she was the consummate hostess. She never knew a stranger.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, December 15, at White Stone Baptist Church, White Stone. Interment followed the service at White Stone United Methodist Church Cemetery. Family received friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
