The Northern Neck History Fair recently celebrated its 21st year with an awards presentation at Historic Christ Church & Museum. Since 2002, the Foundation for Historic Christ Church (FHCC) has hosted this annual competition.
Local elementary students enter by creating projects on an event, person or cultural development related to Virginia from 1607-1789, a period that is part of the students’ Virginia studies curriculum, reported executive director Robert J. Teagle.
Alex Keplinger’s “The Children of Jamestown” won first place and $100 courtesy of Chesapeake Bank, one of the fair’s lead sponsors. Hannah Hopkins and Annabel Clair teamed up for second place with “Virginia Homes Now and Then.” Each student received $75 courtesy of Connemara Corporation, another lead sponsor.
