Northumberland adds personal touch to recognize 117 graduates

The Northumberland High School Class of 2020 may have been disappointed in the crowd size at graduation, but the ceremony itself, however small, was still full of the emotional endings and beginnings defining the milestone.

Stretching four days, May 20-23, NHS held a series of small ceremonies, complete with “Pomp and Circumstance,” for 117 seniors and their guests. As they walked across the stage, a personalized slide was shown and accomplishments and upcoming plans were announced.

“Nothing beats a traditional graduation,” said NHS principal Dr. Travis Burns, but the 20-30 minutes devoted to each senior “allowed them more time to absorb the moment.”
