HEATHSVILLE—Northumberland supervisors on Wednesday, June 25, unanimously adopted a $49,102,121 budget and some supervisors are not happy with it.
Following the 5-0 vote supervisor James Brann said, “I have a hard time voting for a budget that I don’t really agree with,” referring to the lack of staff salary increases and the tax increase. “It’s not a good position for any of us to be in and I hope we work very hard to not be sitting in this same spot next year.”
Projected revenues total $46,102,121 with state and federal sources at $13,986,611; local sources at $27,405,869; and other local sources at $4,709,64. The beginning fund balance remains at $3,000,000, but is likely to be reduced by $1.3 million for a fiscal year 2025 supplemental appropriation for the schools.
