Northumberland board approves up to $400,000 for sewer pipe under creek

HEATHSVILLE—Following a closed meeting on Thursday, January 25, the Northumberland board of supervisors unanimously approved a contract of up to $400,000 to Webb Boring & Well. The emergency procurement will allow for the installation of a new sewer pipe under Cockrell Creek. Once installed, the existing sewer pipe that ruptured twice in one week will be abandoned.

According to county administrator Luttrell Tadlock, the cost will be paid “through a combination of ARPA funding, the capital improvement fund, and/or the sanitary district fund.” As for the costs associated with the previous repair work, Tadlock said the county had not received a final….
