Antoine Mills scored all three of Northumberland’s touchdowns last Friday in a 21-2 win over Lancaster in the season opener for both teams.
Mills rushed eight times for 116 yards and scored on three of those carries. He gave the host Indians a 7-2 lead at the half with a 4-yard touchdown run in the second quarter, then was off to the races with a 66 yard TD run in the third and punched through for another 4-yard scoring run in the fourth.
Mills had the majority of the Indians’ 198 yards rushing on the night but was one of six players with toting time.
“This team is inexperienced and that showed on Mill’s [long] run,” said LHS coach Draper Washington. “We had him tackled in the backfield and then he found a hole. That one particular play seemed to take the spirit out….
