HEATHSVILLE—The Northumberland County Circuit Court convened Tuesday, December 20, with the Hon. R. Michael McKenney presiding.
Donte J. Carter of Heathsville was found guilty of driving while intoxicated following a prior related felony conviction after pleading nolo contendere. He was sentenced to five years with four years suspended and faces $525 in costs. He will be placed in the home incarceration program and will be on supervised probation for five years.
In the case of Michael S. Kappel of Heathsville, charged with three counts of obtaining money under false pretenses, two counts of grand larceny and two counts of construction fraud by failing to complete work after receiving advanced pay, a trial was set for January 31.
In the case of Donald L. Michalak Jr. of Heathsville, charged with probation violation on a felony offense, a trial was carried over to January 24.
Christopher M. Sydney of Warsaw pleaded nolo contendere to a probation violation on a felony offense charge resulting in his probation being revoked. He was sentenced to nine years with eight years, 11 months and 16 days suspended. He faces $208 in costs.
