HEATHSVILLE—The Northumberland County Circuit Court convened Tuesday, September 12, with the Hon. R. Michael McKenney presiding.
In the case of Michael S. Kappel of Heathsville, charged with three counts of obtaining money over $1,000 under false pretenses, two counts of grand larceny over $1,000 that was not personal property, and two counts of construction fraud through advanced pay, a trial was continued to November 28. Kappel also faces a misdemeanor charge of unlawful act per business regulations.
Quentin E. Scott Jr. of Dunnsville pleaded guilty to an amended charge of sale as accommodation. Scott was sentenced to three years with three years suspended. He’s been placed on indefinite supervision and faces $1848.13 in costs. He additionally must pay $200 in restitution.
In the case of Jessica A. Thompson of White Stone, charged with probation violation on a felony offense, an arraignment was continued to October 24.
