Northumberland County Circuit Court Report

The Northumberland County Circuit Court convened December 1. The following cases were heard by Judge Herbert M. Hewitt.

Trials 

Dale Bromley of Kilmarnock, charged with three felonies of sale as an accommodation and a misdemeanor of contempt of court, pled guilty in all accommodation charges and the contempt of court charge was dismissed.

The case of Margaret L. Dawson of Reedville, charged with misdemeanor petit larceny and four felonies including one count of possession of a controlled substance and three counts of child abuse, was continued to January 31.

William L. George of Heathsville was found guilty of two felony probation violations and sentenced to 2 years 11 months, with 1 year 11 months suspended.

Alvin O. Howard of Callao, charged with four felonies of use of a firearm in felony, abduction by force or intimidation, malicious wounding, strangle with injury and a misdemeanor of assault and battery on a family member, was not prosecuted at the time of trial.

The case of Charles E. Johnson of Farnham, charged with a felony of a felon possessing a weapon or ammo and three misdemeanor charges of violating pretrial conditions, contempt of court and revocating a pretrial release, was put under advisement for weapons possession. The rest of the charges were dismissed.

The case of Bernard C. Lee of Hague, charged with three felony counts of child abuse, pled guilty in one charge and the other charges were dismissed. He was sentenced to probation with indefinite supervision.

Other cases

The case of Tyrell O. Brown of Hague, charged with a misdemeanor of a probation violation and four felonies of manufacturing a controlled substance, was set for trial on April 11.

The case of Dontay Davis of Heathsville, charged with a felony of rape by force or threat, was continued to January 24.

Kevin W. Thompson of Callao, charged with three misdemeanors of petit larceny and two charges of failing to appear, pled guilty in the petit larceny charge. The other charges were dismissed.
