Northumberland hazardous, electronic waste collection scheduled October 26

CLARAVILLE—The Northumberland County 2024 Household Hazardous and Electronic Waste (HHW) fall collection will be held from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. October 26 at the Middle School bus parking lot, 175 Academic Lane, Claraville.

The collection is limited to Northumberland County residents and property owners only, reported Northern Neck Soil and Water Conservation District marketing/outreach specialist Kelly Brann.

Folks are asked to bring old household chemicals such as oil-based paint, cleaners, solvents, old or used petroleum products—including mower and boat gas, pool chemicals, pesticides, spent florescent and CFL bulbs, as well as electronics to the event.

Residents should not bring ammunition, radioactive materials, tires, car batteries, medical waste, or prescription drugs.

Anyone with questions about the HHW collection should call the Northumberland County office of Virginia Cooperative Extension, 580-5694. For a schedule of other HHW collection events in the Northern Neck, call Brann, 313-9102, x105.
