HEATHSVILLE—Members of the Northumberland Public Library board last week voted unanimously to name Cherie Carl library director. Carl has been interim director since Alice Cooper left earlier this year.
“She was the most qualified and most enthusiastic candidate,” said board member Jim Russell who headed the search for a new library director.
Carl has managed libraries throughout Virginia including at Old Dominion University, City of Virginia Beach, Tidewater Community College, the Richmond County Public Library and libraries at both campuses of Rappahannock Community College.
She has worked in public schools as an academic coach and collaborated with teachers, students, counselors and administrators.
