HEATHSVILLE—The Northumberland planning commission on Thursday, February 17, prepared for the development of a capital improvement plan (CIP).
County planner Stuart McKenzie told the commission that he had received capital requests from the department heads and that recently appointed county administrator Drew Basye would be heading up the process.
McKenzie said a CIP public hearing would need to be held no later than the April 21 meeting. “We’re going to need to meet at least two or three times in March or February” in order to meet the deadline, McKenzie added.
Alfred Fisher Jr. of District 4, Garfield Parker of District 3 and Patrick O’Brien of District 2 will serve on the CIP committee.
For fiscal year 2022-23, the first year the county had developed a CIP, the projects total $1,761,988, including projects funded through the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA). Through fiscal year 2026, capital projects total….
