Following several years of financial turmoil, frustrations and concerns from residents regarding spending, the Northumberland school board and finance personnel have seemingly improved the overall organization and lowered local contributions for the proposed 2026- 27 fiscal year school budget.
In February, the school board considered a proposed budget totaling $22,709,881 for adoption by the board of supervisors. After pushback and requests to cut spending, financial personnel made considerable adjustments, which included eliminating several vacant job openings.
