Northumberland schools celebrate Tobacco- and e-cigarette-free policies

In March 2019 the Northumberland school board adopted 100% comprehensive tobacco- and e-cigarette-free policies, to protect the more than 1,300 youth in the division from the harmful influence of tobacco and e-cigarettes.

The policy has gone into effect and to get the conversation going, Northumberland Middle and High schools celebrated during lunch periods May 2.

With the adoption of the revised policies, Northumberland became the 41st division in the Commonwealth recognized by the Virginia Foundation for Healthy Youth to adopt 100% comprehensive policies.
