Northumberland schools present $20.29 million budget; supervisors request additional formatting, 4-1

HEATHSVILLE—Northumberland schools director of finance Donna Booth and superintendent Dr. Holly Wargo on Wednesday, April 14, presented the 2021-22 operating budget to the board of supervisors during a special called work session. The $20,297,120 school budget represents an increase of $1,684,171 or 9% from the current year, with county funds at $13,865,629, an increase of $1,565,895 or 12.7%.

Dr. Wargo said the increases in the operational budget reflect increases “in the essential areas of employee compensation, regional program participation, and the addition of four full-time positions: an elementary computer literacy teacher, a middle school keyboarding and literacy coach, a full-time athletic and events director, and an additional full-time talented and gifted program teacher.” The cost of these additional positions is $276,510. The cost of the regional programs increase is $14,419.
