HEATHSVILLE—The Northumberland planning commission on Thursday, March 19, voted 7-0 to hold a public hearing on a projected $19.6 million capital improvement budget at the April 19 meeting.
For the 2026-27 fiscal year capital improvement requests total $1,351,721, including $191,684 for the sheriff’s office, $568,000 for emergency services (EMS), $253,676 for sanitation, $238,361 for schools and $100,000 for county administration.
That does not mean the county taxpayers will have to directly fund that amount in 2027. Nearly all of the requests from EMS will be funded through the EMS billing fund, receipts from billing insurance companies, and the Rescue Squad Assistance Fund….
