Northumberland teachers seek 5.25% pay increase

CLARAVILLE—Northumberland residents had their second opportunity to weigh in on the district’s school budget during a public hearing Monday night in the high school auditorium.

Still in the early stages of development, the school board did not present any numbers for the fiscal year 2019 budget.

Shelby Brooks, a teacher and president of the Northumberland Education Association, asked the board to make salary increases a priority, suggesting a 4% increase, plus a step, which would equal a 5.25% increase…
