The weather broke beautiful on Saturday, September 12, on the water at Glebe Point where the Northern Neck Nutshell racers and spectators gathered for their final regatta of the 2020 season.
It was a perfect day for racers with weather in the low 70s and a variable wind shifting between east and north, and from 0-15 knots, reported Bill England.
Seven feisty sailors, including two new racers, jockeyed for position at the start line with some tacking, jibing, bumping and good-natured debate over who fouled who before points could be counted.
“Thank goodness no one capsized,” said England. “We had a great gathering of friends and family who enjoyed the outside safety net of social distancing to support our racers and the feel of a great breeze with no mosquitos to carry anyone away.”
