The Seth Ware Ahlborn Performing Arts and Lecture Series (PALS) presented the ballet classic “Coppelia” to pre-kindergarten through fifth grade students at Thursday, October 29, at Chesapeake Academy. The Richmond Ballet shared the magic of dance.
Incorporated into the presentation, students learned the meaning of special movements in classical ballet, why ballet dancers wear special shoes and costumes, what the rhythm, tempo and style is of the music they are hearing, and some of the traditions of the time period and place, reported head of school Catherine L. Emery.
