Performance to showcase ‘The Ladies of Barbershop’

“The Ladies of Barbershop” is the theme of the spring concert by the Northern Neck Bay Tones Barbershop Chorus. The performance will take place at 7:30 p.m. April 22 at the Lancaster Middle School Theater, 191 School Street, Kilmarnock.

From “Sweet Adeline” to “My Wild Irish Rose” and on through a total of 13 traditional barbershop favorites, the Bay Tones will take their audience back to the 19th century and then return, reported Peter Bennett.

From the eager pace of “Hello My Baby” to the gentle rhythm of “Heart of My Heart,” the auditorium will be filled with the very hummable sounds of a century-plus of favorite barbershop songs, said Bennett.

In addition to the Bay Tones, the first half of the concert will feature the director Dr. Cheryl B. Davis, in “Lida Rose,” a song from the show and later the movie, “The Music Man.”

The second half of the concert will feature The Youth Reclamation Project Quartet, bringing special energies and talents to the show, he said. The quartet members have won a number of competitive medals at the district, area and international levels.

Tickets are $15 each. Tickets may be purchased in Kilmarnock at the Animal Welfare League Thrift Shop, The Bank of Lancaster – Main Branch, Chesapeake Bank – Main Branch and Yours Truly Photography; in White Stone at White Stone Pharmacy; in Burgess at Essex Bank and Union First Market Bank; and from any Bay Tones member.
