
WHITE STONE—Phyllis Weddle Ault, 94, left this world a better place for all who knew her on September 15, 2023.
She was born January 11, 1929 in Flintstone, Maryland, to Joseph Harley and Mary Jane (Shipway) Weddle. She attended school in Flintstone and was the oldest daughter of 10 brothers and sisters.
Phyllis married the love of her life, Warren C. Ault on January 28, 1946. She was a dedicated Air Force wife and loving mother. While Warren was assigned to Hahn Air Force Base Germany, the family was able to visit numerous countries in Europe.
Upon returning to the United States, the family moved back to Falls Church. For years she was employed by Fairfax County Public Schools as one of the “Cafeteria Ladies.” Phyllis was an excellent cook and homemaker. Upon retirement, Phyllis and Warren moved to their waterfront property in White Stone and spent many a day crabbing and fishing.
She was survived by her daughters Jeanne Ault, White Stone, Virgina, Donna (Ault) Hagood and son-in-law, Lacy Hagood Jr. US Army retired, Lawton, Oklahoma; daughter-in-law, Lettie Ault, Philippines; grandchildren, Rachel Ault, Michelle (Hagood) Maloney; granddaughter-in-law, Jana (Young) Hagood; great-grandchildren, Chrissy and Trent Hagood, Lacy Aguilar Hagood, Alyiah, Jazlynn and Derrick; sisters, Beverly Wagoner, Gainesville, Florida, Clarice Williams, Cullman, Alabama; sister-in-Law, Virginia Weddle, North Carolina; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Warren C. Ault; son, Gary W. Ault; grandson, Jeffrey (Jeff) B. Hagood, both parents; brothers, Richard, Fay, Frederick, Lester, Kenneth and Franklin (infant brother); and sister, Donna Weddle Combs (grandmother to famous two-time CMA Entertainer of the year Luke Combs).
A memorial service will be held at Glendale Cemetery, Flintstone, Maryland, at a later date. A special thank you to Jana Hagood for her loving care and close companionship in the passing of our mother.
