Spring is here and that brings the ninth annual Plein Air Unleashed outdoor painting event April 29–May 4 to Middlesex County.
This free six-day event is one of the largest gatherings of plein air painters in the region each year, featuring award-winning fine artists from across Virginia and Maryland, reported Jeff Cherry of Allure Art. The artists spend the week in the Middle Peninsula painting the beautiful scenery “en plein air.”
This “en plein air” method is most often associated with impressionist painters like Monet and Renoir. These artists who took their easels out into the countryside realized that they could more accurately represent the colors and the light by painting in nature, said Cherry.
During this event by Allure Art, folks can watch the artists working in a variety of mediums, out in natural settings, striving to catch the light in their interpretations of the scenery. Be on the lookout….
