The Piankatank River Ladies Golf Association hosted its annual Golf Invitational on Thursday, July 18, at the Piankatank River Golf Club in Hartfield. The theme was “Christmas in July” with festivities, raffles, food and fun organized by planning committee members Gloria Matthews, Donna Lange, Michele Meanley and Kay Stout.
Some 24 teams comprised of 96 women from the surrounding area, as well as from regional destinations and other golf leagues and courses, participated in the team game of “Santa’s Gambling Scramble,” reported Yelena Palmer.
Overall low gross winners were Colleen Robertson, Mary Beth Huneke, Casey Burley and Candance Haske. Overall low net winners were Lisa Lavery, Chris Miles, Jena Simpson and Paige Simpson.
A flight low gross winners were first, Joy Cimburke, Trish Owens, Sandy Lee and Nevia Cashwell; and second, Michele Meanley, Karla Knight, Kay Stout, and Susie Fox. Low net winners were first, Linda Knight, Kary Nicholson, Helen Rosson and Evelyn Carrie; and second, Nina Carter, Christi Lewis, Martha Wiggs and Ellen McGowan.
B flight low gross winners were first, Liza Davidson, Gabby Rengifo, Brenda Johnson and Stephane Cress; and second, Gail Thomasson, Kim Harris, Julie Whitaker and Gina Curtis. Low net winners were first, Mary-Alice Sullivan, Michelle Mahaffery, Debra Harz and Sandy Schaerfer; and second, Barbara Sherupski, Barbara Mait, Barbara Fentress and Barbara Maynard.
C flight low gross winners were first, Jo Turek, Betty Johnson, Sherri Comer and Barbara Ronan; and second, Lissa Smith, Lib Northern, Georgia Wiley and Joan Harrison. Low net winners were first, Carol Sennott, Marny Richardson, Chrystal Welch and Bobby Stuck; and second, Ann Stanley, Kay Uhler, Chong Hudgins and Karen Gorin.
