Queen Elizabeth Anne Kellum is preparing to preside over the seasonal festivities celebrating the 125th Holly Ball.
The Holly Ball, the Northern Neck’s oldest traditional Yuletide event, originated in 1895 and began operating as the fundraising arm of The Tidewater Foundation in the 1950s, reported publicity chairman Patricia Gallagher.
As reigning Holly Ball Queen, Kellum will act as the official hostess of the Foundation’s gala fundraiser. The Kellum family has chosen Sen. Paul S. Trible orator of the 125th Holly Ball. The Queen’s community service project is to collect crayons, books and small stuffed animals to be given to Lancaster, Northumberland and Richmond County sheriff’s offices to comfort children at an arrest or accident scene, said Gallagher.
