The Rappahannock Raiderettes last Friday beat Northumberland, 3-1, to claim the Conference #43 softball tournament championship. Jenna Whelan was the winning pitcher.
Meredith Slaw had an RBI double to score Madison Pierson and Courtney Berhalter had the other two RBIs to account for Rappahannock’s three runs.
Zoe Sadler hit a triple and Kyndall Dawson had the RBI to score Sadler for Northumberland’s only run.
Both teams advanced to the Region 1A East tournament, where Rappahannock eliminated Northumberland Monday, 14-2, in a quarterfinal game in Claraville.
