Rappahannock dominates All-Region A volleyball team, Virginia Trible is named player of the year

Rappahannock’s run for the state championship ended November 14 when Altavista beat the Raiders, 3-1, in a Class 1 volleyball semifinal. Despite the loss, Rappahannock capped another successful season, going 25-5 to win the Northern Neck District and Region 1A championships and claiming six spots on the All-Region A volleyball team released last week. 

Senior outside hitter Virginia Trible was honored as the region’s player of the year and filled a first-team spot along with RHS teammates junior Sadie Packett, senior Blaikley Lewis, senior Leah Medlin and junior libero Maggie Wonderling. Rappahannock junior Laney Williams was named to the all-region second team. 

Middlesex, which was eliminated by Altavista in the state quarterfinals after finishing as the regional runner-up, placed four on the all-region first team including juniors Karlie Morris, Addison Heasley, Libby Oliver and Hailey Bruce. The Chargers had two second team selections in sophomores Carly Jessie and Courtney Jessie. 

Westmoreland junior Janaya Moore completed the first team.
