Rappahannock High posts team low 349 for golf match victory

Nat King shot a match low 84 to lead Rappahannock to a team score of 349 and the win in a four-team Northern Neck District match on Monday at Golden Eagle Golf Course in Irvington.

Reed Thorne shot an 86 for the Raiders, Brandon Whaley, 89, and Daniel O’Bier, 90.

Tristin Gross shot an 85 to lead runner-up Essex, which finished with a team score of 368. Hunter Shackleford and Tae White shot a 92 each for the Trojans and Logan Cooke, 99.

Sheridan Ford shot an 89 to lead host Lancaster, which finished third with 379. The match was the home opener for the Red Devils, who will play six matches before school starts on September 5. Spencer Crittenden and Roman Cutler shot a 96 each for Lancaster and Jacob Hudnall, 98. Nicklaus Ford also played but his score did not count in the top four.

Northumberland finished with a team score of 438. Corey Palubinski shot a low 91 to lead the Indians. Patrick Lewis shot a 106, Alice Sisson, 113, and Matt Jett, 128.

Lancaster will play Rappahannock in an 18-hole match at Quinton Oaks Golf Course Tuesday, August 22, and will host a nine-hole match Thursday, August 24, at the Golden Eagle Golf Course.
