Rappahannock River Yacht Club wins Rappahannock Cup regatta

On Saturday, September 19, the Rappahannock River Yacht Club (RRYC) successfully defended its hold on the Rappahannock Cup, winning three of the top four places in the annual regatta with the Yankee Point Racing and Cruising Club (YPRCC).

As the defending club, RRYC supplied the race committee, headed by PRO Brian McCauley. Eight boats—five from RRYC and three from YPRCC—competed in the three races held between the Robert O. Norris Jr. Memorial Bridge and Towles Point on the Rappahannock River, reported Tom Chapman.

With sustained NNE winds of 14-16 knots and gusts over 23 knots, the conditions were exciting, said Chapman.
