Recognizing first responders

There will be a “Parade of Gratitude” to honor first responders and health care professionals Wednesday, April 15, in Kilmarnock. The community is invited to participate, according to organizer Dawn Hinkle.

“We ask that the community come together from the safety of their own vehicles to join us,” said Hinkle.

Parade participants are asked to meet in the parking lot of the Northern Neck Family YMCA, 39 William B. Graham Court, Kilmarnock, at 4:45 p.m. Make a sign or banner to thank a responder or health care professional.

The parade will pass by the Kilmarnock-Lancaster Volunteer Rescue Squad building, 61 Harris Road, Kilmarnock, with participants beeping and waving to volunteers in the parking lot. It will then pass through the Bon Secours-Rappahannock General Hospital pick-up area. Participants may then park in the hospital lot to continue beeping horns and waving. Fire trucks, police cars and rescue squad vehicles will join in the parade, according to Hinkle.
