Red Devils break even on Eastern Shore sandlot tour

by Lisa Hinton-Valdrighi

Lancaster’s varsity baseball team traveled to the Eastern Shore over spring break, where they split non-conference games against Nandua and Arcadia.

The Red Devils gave up a four-run lead late in the outing against the Warriors last Thursday to fall to Nandua, 5-4.

Lancaster took a 2-0 lead in the first inning on a walk, double and fielder’s choice. Matthew Kleinfelter drew a two-out walk and stole second before scoring on a double by Danny Hinson. Hinson came home on a fielder’s choice hit by Adam Wilmore and an error.

In the top of the fifth, Hunter Koonce led off for LHS with a single and moved to second on a sacrifice bunt by Spencer Crittenden. Kleinfelter singled to put runners on the corners and Hinson scored Koonce with a bunt.
