Red Devils stretch undefeated streak, 5-0

Lancaster’s varsity baseball team increased its winning streak to five last weekend, picking up wins over Mathews and King William in the Wells Fargo Advisors Invitational at Dream Fields in Kilmarnock.

The Devils remain unbeaten at 5-0 and were scheduled to play Arcadia on the Eastern Shore earlier this week before taking seven days off for spring break. Lancaster will open Northern Neck District play at 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 9, at Rappahannock.

Spencer Crittenden went four-and-a-third innings with five walks, eight strikeouts and six hits allowed for the win last Thursday as Lancaster downed Mathews, 12-4, in the opening game of the invitational.

Lancaster spotted Mathews two runs in the Blue Devils’ first at bat then batted around in the bottom of the second to take an 8-2 lead. Jayden Chapman opened and ended the scoring in the second, leading off with a walk and a stolen base to score…
