All the moving parts were working in sync Friday, November 3, when the varsity Red Devils ended the regular season with a 33-20 win over Colonial Beach High School to earn their first football playoff berth since 2015. The 6-4 Devils will have home field advantage in the Region 1A quarterfinals tomorrow, November 10, hosting fifth-place Rappahannock at 7 p.m.
Lancaster finished in fourth place in the region, while Essex ended the year in first; Northumberland, second; and West Point, third. The Pointers will host Northampton; Northumberland will host Westmoreland and Essex will host Colonial Beach.
Last Friday, Lancaster had two 100-plus yards rushers and amassed 404 yards on the ground. Jaquarrias Morris led the charge with 126 yards on 18 carries for two touchdowns and a two-point conversion, and quarterback Daveon Smith had 125 yards, one score and one two-point carry on 15 rushes.
