Lancaster scored the winning run in the first inning last Thursday and captured the fourth Region 1A baseball championship in school history.
The Red Devils put three runs on the board in the bottom of the first and went on to shut out Colonial Beach, 6-0, in the regional tournament final and clinch a home berth in this week’s state playoffs.
Lancaster was scheduled to host Region B runner-up William Campbell in the Class 1 quarterfinals on June 4. The state semifinals are tomorrow, June 7, at Calfee Field in Pulaski County and the state championship is Saturday, June 8, at Radford University.
Lancaster takes a 19-3 record into the state tournament.
