Reedville Fishermen’s Museum opens today

The Reedville Fishermen’s Museum (RFM) will open for the season today, March 27.

The museum will feature new exhibits showcasing indoor and outdoor displays by the Tidewater Oyster Gardeners Association, a Smith Point Sea Rescue display and fishing boat models handcrafted by artist Eddie Rittenhouse, reported executive director Shauna McCrainie. An exhibit honoring retiring Ocean Harvesters Capt. Alan Hinson also is on display in the Watermen’s Gallery.

With a generous grant from River Counties Community Foundation, RFM offers new technology kiosks showcasing points of interest on Main Street Reedville, a topical kiosk on fisheries, a digital display above the docent desk sharing recent events and a large screen showing Smith Point Sea Rescue’s life saving history.

New outdoor signage was made possible with grants from the Cole Foundation and Northern Neck Insurance. The signs, created by Mathews Trading…..
