Regional broadband project nears completion

WARSAW—According to a recent broadband update to the Northern Neck Planning District Commission, more Northern Neck residents should be logging on and streaming by year’s end as work on the sprawling four-county broadband project with All Points Broadband (APB), Dominion Energy and Northern Neck Electric Cooperative is nearing completion, approximately three years after it was officially launched.

Using a $10.3 million Virginia Telecommunications Initiative (VATI) grant, Dominion Energy and Northern Neck Electric Cooperative completed the installation of “middle mile” fiber optic cable in Northumberland, Richmond and Westmoreland counties. According to APB senior vice-president Tom Innes, network lighting events signaling the completion of the “last mile” of an area, are planned for Lancaster….
