Rev. Tom Coye achieves ministerial career milestone

Rev. Dr. Thomas R. Coye this August celebrates the 50th anniversary of his ordination as a minister of word and sacrament/teaching elder.

He has achieved this milestone in his ministerial career that is seldom reached by clergy, reported Kathleen Beane, clerk of session, Milden Presbyterian Church, Sharps.

Rev. Coye’s career began after receiving an undergraduate degree from Cornell University in 1970. He then enrolled at Princeton Seminary (N.J.) and completed a Master of Divinity in 1973. He was ordained on August 5, 1973, at his home church, Lyons Presbyterian, Lyons. N.Y.

Within the next several weeks, he married his wife, Linda, on September 1 and began his service as pastor of Roessleville United Presbyterian Church, Albany, N.Y. on September 8. The church graciously helped him hone his skills as a pastor.

In 1979, he was called to St. Andrews….
